Third Passage of the Dark Moon

Frost Dragon Encountered South of Aranor

Huntsmen near the town of Ritual encountered a very unusual creature last An Maad.

"The dragon was feasting on the frozen carcass of a deer," said Duren, the leader of the huntsmen. "It was a silvery-white colour, with dark eyes and a long crest. I’ve seen pictures before, and I’m sure of it. It was a frost dragon."

There is no other dragon that might mimic the appearance of a frost dragon, save a silver wyrm, which is exceedingly rare.

Frost dragons are small dragons capable of breathing a magical blast of extremely cold air – so cold that it can freeze a victim solid almost instantly. They are known to live only on the isle of Inidor, and since they are not believed to be long-distance fliers, it is certainly a mysterious sighting.

"These dragons need year-round winter," said Arus, a sage at the library of Aranor. "It’s impossible that one could be on the Old World landmass."

Sages who investigated the tracks, however, confirm that the tracks match those of frost dragons reported by the famous Inidor explorer Daralen.

"The sages admitted that the tracks were obscured," countered Arus. "They were seeing what they wanted to see."

Whatever the case, a dragon sighting in itself is remarkable enough!

Chanterelle Festival

The Chanterelle family, purveyors of domesticated mushrooms of the same name, are holding a public festival in the banquet room of the Theater of Aranor. Though the price will be high, the dining will be superb, including roasts, soups, breads, and spreads which feature the distinctive mushroom.

"We’ve expanded our operations by building a large underground facility," said Erin Chanterelle, who heads the family business. "We’re now going to be providing to restaurants throughout Aranor, so fresh mushrooms can be enjoyed year-round."

The announcement has generated much excitement, especially among a populace that is growing bored with the annual necessity of using only dried and preserved vegetables and mushrooms. It’s a welcome reminder that summer isn’t too far off.

Entrance to the banquet costs 250 silver, but includes a huge feast, and, the Chanterelles have announced, a sip of Liathan for each participant.

Regent Emperor Instated

Tijraan Akata, one of the highest political figures in Irutoka, has been instated as the temporary Emperor of Jedda Felsuin. While a similar instatement has not occurred for over seventeen generations of Jeddan Emperors, the circumstances are extreme enough to demand such a move.

"I will hold to my duties only so long as is necessary," he stated. "I am eager to deliver rulership to the proper Emperor."

Although Tijraan is considered quite moderate in his political views, and most feel that he would make peace with Mymé and the Old World by means of apology, Jeddan law states that he may not make any changes in the current policy.

"I will hold to Jeddan law," he stated, "but I will go so far as to publicly state that it is my hope that the former Emperor’s crimes are not supported by the majority of Jeddans." His councilors have indicated that Tijraan, as well as those who instated him, consider the former Emperor to have been afflicted with insanity. They have hinted that things will change as soon as the new Emperor is appointed.

The search for a new Emperor continues throughout the isle of Irutoka. If three moons pass and Tijraan is still in power, he will be imbued with further authority, and at that time it is suspected that he will formally approach both Queen Lillian and the Empress of Jedda in an attempt to mend the wrongs of the former Emperor.
