Second Passage of the Dark Moon

Emperor Escapes

The former Emperor of Jedda, thought to be responsible for the recently missing Mymé trading ships, was discovered hiding in some ruins north of Teran’s Point.

"We went up to examine an old pirate hideout," said Malin, the captain of the flagship of the expedition. "Some old ruins that are oft used. There was a small Jeddan ship hidden in the bay, and as soon as we rounded the corner the engagement began."

The Aranorian guards, accompanied by three mages, were assaulted by a barrage of arrows and magic. They managed to land  two of their ships and attacked the ruins by land, but were beaten back.

"We didn’t lose anyone, but we sustained multiple injuries," said Malin. "The Emperor, accompanied by at least twenty warriors and Jeddan magicians, fled to the north along Teran’s Point. The Aranorian forces did capture the Emperor’s ship, leaving him land-bound.

"We’re sending out a search party, but he’s well guarded. Our best hope is that the numerous creatures of Teran’s Point do him in."

It is hoped that this will mean the end of Mymé trading difficulties, and a return to normal prices in the Jeddan markets in Aranor.

Lord Kieran

Magician Arrested

A majae named Araana was apprehended by Aranorian guards last An Tir when she attempted to sell a fist-sized flawless emerald to the Emerald Dragon in the River District.

"I can’t believe she was this dull-witted," said Asha, the guard responsible for her case. "Araana was fond of making large gemstones when she was up at the Lysandra School for the Arts. Her teachers warned her not to do it for profit. She set herself up."

Large stones are always accompanied by documentation detailing their province of origin and the mine they were found in, as well as the names of jewelers who have appraised and examined the gem. Her stone had no such documentation.

"Araana must have been desperate for gold," said Asha. "She’s showing signs of withdrawal from Golden Sun, and we’re pretty sure she was trying to support an addiction."

Araana will be given only a light punishment by the guard, consisting of a passage of dungeon time and a moon of city service.

"She’s a troubled woman," said Asha, "but not malicious. I don’t think she’ll do this again."

Phase In Aranor

One of the world’s rarest diseases, Phase, recently afflicted a man in Aranor. He wishes to keep his name private.

This mysterious disease slowly degrades the victim’s body until they fade into the Astral. In effect, they become more insubstantial every day. This makes healing very difficult, as the person ‘isn’t fully there’ to be healed. Aranorian healers in the River District, however, managed to cure the afflicted man after three days of intense healing.

"The victim is alright," said Jonathon, the Chief Healer in the River District. "But it must be remembered that we know almost nothing about this disease, including whether it can be passed from person to person. We’re asking anyone who experiences the symptoms – confusion, weakness, and slurred speech – to come to the healer’s."

As the disease progresses, the victim becomes tolerant to pain and discomfort, and spends long moments staring off into space. Within a few days they will actually begin seeing into the Astral, and will talk to invisible people or react to things others can’t perceive.

The disease progresses quickly – victims can be lost to the Astral within seven days. If anyone is experiencing symptoms, please be expedient.
