Third Passage of the Harvest Moon

Fetch Killed

A rare creature of Fae, fetches are extremely powerful and elusive. With the ability to take on the appearance, memories, and skills of any person, their potential is nearly unlimited.

For the most part, fetches walk amongst us unseen, but once in a time one of them attempts to do more. Selarum recently encountered such an event.

It began with nobles reporting large sums missing from their treasuries. And then came the selling of businesses – by taking different guises, the fetch was able to secure legal rights to three separate businesses in the city.

It took careful tracing of records and unraveling of puzzle-pieces for the Selarum guard to trace the thefts to the guilty fetch.

Finally, cornered in a house that he had secured as his own, the fetch was slain by guardsmen.

While most applaud their actions, at least one group in Selarum is declaring this a ‘brutal killing’, insisting that the fetch was only acting according to its natural inclinations. These creatures, the group insists, need to be removed peacefully from the city.

The guards’ response?

"Perhaps, with the next one, they could do that for us."

Brothers to Entertain Aranor

Six brothers, aged nine to twenty-two.

And a lot of fun.

The group Kirjin, hailed as ‘the most talent possible in one family’, is making its way to Aranor. Long-time performers from Masalla, the Adieran brothers combine breathtaking acrobatics with song, dance, and comedy. They’ve performed for the likes of the Royalty of Masalla and the Emperor of Jedda.

Devoted Lakiratai monks, they insist that their religion gives them the ‘power’ to perform feats that certainly seem beyond human capacity. In one of their acts, four of the brothers are standing, each atop the other’s shoulders, and the fifth springs the youngest up to land neatly atop the ‘human pillar’.

Their performance will begin next An Maad in the Theater of Aranor, and it is rumored that the troupe will perform three outside performances as well, despite the cool weather.

Make sure not to miss this event!

Tania

Runaway Princess

Jiralaya, who stands in line to inherit the throne of Lantrielle, has long been known for her eccentricities. Among her exploits are the freeing of a bred slave, the theft of a ship, and numerous arguments with the nobles of her land.

And now?

She is missing.

While cries have gone up that she was kidnapped, our sources say that it is most likely that she ran away, possibly sailing off with a young man she had been forbidden to see.

"She is fickle and completely lacking in wisdom!" he mother is reported as saying.

Whatever the case, she has been missing for over a moon, and mercenaries are scouring the provinces for any sign of her. While her parents insist that Jiralaya is addicted to the plushness of civilization, and will soon show her face, others note that she has long been training in swordplay and archery, despite the prohibition of such activities by her parents.

In Lantrielle, unlike Masalla, royal title passes through the eldest child, whether they are male or female. Thus, Jiralaya is destined to be the Queen of Lantrielle, a duty that many say she loathes.

Lantrielle has officially offered a hundred thousand silver to anyone who can locate the heir and return her, safely, to the island.
