First Passage of the Dark Moon

Teran’s Point in Ruins

It took brave adventurers to sail in past the ruins of over twenty ships that stuck up from the waters in the bay. And then to scout the ruins which, only passages ago, were the stronghold of the former Emperor of Jedda.

Kala and her six companions claim to be the first to enter the area since the fae attack, and they report that everything there is ‘in ruins’.

"We found eighty bodies," she said, "most stripped. All valuables are gone."

She went on to point out that the scene left many mysteries unsolved. By her estimates, over two hundred people are still unaccounted for, including the former Emperor. Some escaped in ships, and many of those are doubtless yet to report their appearance in foreign ports. But even by the most conservative estimates, over thirty ships are missing, along with a hundred and fifty sailors, as well as fifty of the Emperor’s people.

"This could mean anything," she said. "If the fae were this organized, and if they took some of the ships that haven’t been accounted for, then we could very well have fae sailing the seas. And they left with many other artifacts of modern human life, including weaponry, armor, clothing, and items of magic. This could be the beginning of the rise of the fae."

Though her concerns are likely unfounded, she refers to the legend that someday the faerie races will band together, take up the artifacts of human civilization, and make Carador the domain of the fae races. Most sages agree that the fae don’t have minds capable of such an organized effort, but others point to the Sereg attacks on the isle of Velsuna.

We will continue to inform you of any new important information concerning Teran's Point and the missing people as we receive it.

Fae Dragons in Aranor Park

For the first time in the history of the city, a fae dragon has been sighted in one of the city parks. It is a bright yellow-orange and purple beast, and the sages who have been studying the creature report that it is of a yet undocumented variety.

Fae dragons are small dragons that rarely grow larger than a cat. Many are much smaller. They are quite intelligent, and different colors are said to indicate different magical capabilities, temperaments, and habits. As with all fae creatures, they are usually quite elusive.

Although only the single fae dragon’s existence has been verified by sages, there have been six other reports of sightings, leading many to believe that there is more than a single dragon in the park.

Due to the existence of anti-fae factions within the city, the exact location of the dragon will remain a secret.

Rilhaven Prospers

After Rilhaven's truce with Maelmuire, an estimated one-third of Rilhaven's population left the city – many to form self-ruled communities in the forests, communities insistent that it is a mistake to befriend the Maelmuirians.

Those who chose to stay behind have found a newly prosperous city, and Rilhaven is re-gaining its lost numbers as people move to the city, lured by promises of opportunity. Indeed, houses are cheap, and the city is hungry for fresh talent – whether skilled workers, artists, or entertainers. Even a few daring Maelmuirians have made the city their new home.

The forests, on the other hand, remain dangerous.  They harbor groups who kill Maelmuirians on sight, along with the New World men and women who are their companions. The forests are ‘full of archers’ according to one source, and Rilhaven/Maelmuirian forces have had to cease their hunts for the last dens of the kraeven in order to address this new threat. King Niall has promised ‘no mercy’ for those who threaten the truce, and has formally invited all those who disagree with his policy to leave the province.

Perhaps they could all get on board a ship and find a new home in Faol . . .
