Horse Dancers Come to Aranor

Hailing from Adiera, the Gypsy Horsemen of Teln are making their first out-of-Masalla debut in Aranor.

"We are pleased here," says Jasuun in broken Caradorian. His native tongue is Old Masallan. He is one of the main ‘horsedancers’.

"Our great fun is to make man and horse like brothers," he says. "We now bring that fun to Aranor."

His ‘fun’ is a highly-skilled acrobatic dance done on horseback. They juggle knives, do flips and somersaults, and engage in ‘horse wrestling’, where two opponents attempt to drag each other off horseback.

The owners of the Arena, who have witnessed a pre-show, say that they can’t believe their eyes.

"This is the native entertainment in the isolated city of Teln," said Andrew, one of the owners. "To them it’s nothing special. They do performances for holidays, celebrations – sometimes just for fun. But here – well, we’ve never seen anything like this."

Shows will begin next An Sel in the Arena, at noon. Standard entrance fees will be five silver per show.

Theater Seals ‘Hut Hole’

Brandon, the groundskeeper at the Theater of Aranor, has known for moons that there was a loose foundation-stone near the back of the theater. He kept re-chinking it, and often wondered why the chinking didn’t stay put. Then, on a whim, he decided to remove it. What he discovered was quite interesting.

"You’d have to be the size of a child to fit into the tunnel," he said, and indeed, he had to hire a nine-year old boy to squeeze in and see where it went. The small tunnel delivered the boy into a back store-room, and from there Brandon and the child managed to follow the trail through various secret passageways until it led to a small, unused ‘light room’ high above the seats of the theater.

"These were designed to allow spotters to shine lights onto the stage, but since the advent of magical lighting, we’ve had no use for them. They were locked up and forgotten," Brandon explained.

The room seemed to be the abode of a child. There was a make-shift chair, a small basket of candies, and a plaque which named the area the ‘Hut’.

"A child or very small adult – perhaps, some say, even a faerie of some kind – was using the room as a regular watching-place. Who knows how many plays they’ve seen?"

Although Brandon seemed light-hearted about the affair, the theater has sealed the hole and barricaded the other passageways that lead to the ‘hut’.

A mystery has been uncovered, but its discovery means that someone will no longer be able to watch free productions.

Rel Morde Aids Rilhaven

Rel Morde sent fifty men, as well as numerous supplies, to Rilhaven last passage to aid in the building of Mere Rel, Rilhaven’s new port city. Although the number seems small, Rel Morde has a population of under five hundred, so it is a significant proportion of the population.

This gesture of goodwill will continue to solidify the already good relationship between the two provinces.

Last passage, the small port village next to Antara officially closed down, and its resources were moved to Mere Rel, which translates, roughly, to ‘Mountain Pool’.

The village is reportedly quite lovely, built in the new style of Gwynned, and has room to expand to a small city of perhaps two thousand citizens. From it, Rilhaven will import goods from around the world, and export wood, fur, and various goods made by Rilhaven artisans.

Building is greatly ahead of schedule due to the continued help of Maelmuire, who has provided hundreds of men to aid in the work. King Niall seems hopeful that the port could officially open next year – at least a year and a half ahead of schedule.
