Fourth Passage of the Summer Moon
Due to the strange event of last passage, we feel that we have all contributed equally to the stories below, and thus each will be signed ‘The Oracle Staff’ instead of the usual indication of who wrote what. We’ll be back to normal next passage. Promise.
Oracle Stolen!
Mimi, the courier in charge of taking the Oracles to various distributors throughout the city, was moving the crate of parchment from the scribes’ wagon to her own cart when two men, both hooded and masked, pushed her aside, grabbed the small cart she was using, and ran off with it down the street.
Although the guards were called as soon as possible, the two bandits got away, and the result is that the entire crate of last passage’s Oracles are missing.
Yes, then, the rumors are true. We currently have no leads on the thieves, and don’t know the reason for the theft. Today’s Oracle will briefly cover last passage’s stories.

Last Passage
In our first story, we covered the former Emperor of Jedda, who has officially opened his port to trade. His counselors will be interviewing possible candidates interested in doing trade. Merchants have been asked to arrive in port bearing gifts as a display of their determination to be one of the privileged few allowed trading rights with the new province.
In our second article, we spoke to Maria, visiting from the isle of Adiera in Masalla. She told us how Queen Anabelle’s new policies are affecting the Adieran population – causing some sages to suggest that Adiera will announce its independence within a few decades. She invited visitors to the isle, citing its beauty and welcome attitude toward strangers.
In our third account, we spoke about Shavay-inspired fashions, which may become the big new fashion trend as winter approaches. ‘Bright furs’ are growing in popularity, and some of the city’s premier sellers are warning of fake, dyed fur which is being passed off as true Shavay imports.

People Warned of Fire Charlatan
Over the last passage he’s been setting up a small booth along lesser-known streets and offering a special liquid for sale at twenty silver a vial.
"He told me it was alchemical," said Ana, one of the purchasers of a vial of the liquid. "You just rub it on the wick of a candle, and moments later the candle lights. Very nice if you aren’t good at flint and steel!"
The problem is that the liquid doesn’t work.
"It’s just dyed water – probably with blackberry juice," explained Evan, the guardsman charged with hunting the man down. "He’s likely an elemental magic practitioner. He gets a crowd, pretends to rub some liquid on a candle wick, secretly utters his incantation, and the candle lights up. Then he sells a few hundred silver’s worth of dyed water in little glass vials."
Citizens have been warned not to make a purchase from this man, and to report him if he’s seen. He is described as having a lean build, short black hair, ‘hawk-like’ eyes, and long fingernails. Report sightings to the nearest guard or guardhouse.
