Dragons are among the most ferocious of predators. For more complete descriptions, read the 'A Bit About Dragons' treatise in the Library. Dragons combine immense strength (any dragon more than thirty feet long is capable of lifting a horse off the ground) with heavily armored scales, sharp senses, and in some cases breath weapons, a high level of intelligence, and even magical powers. Dragons are best avoided or dealt with non-violently, although it should be remembered that each type has its own personality traits.

To figure out a dragon's Damage Points, multiply the number of feet long it is by 10. Thus a forty-foot dragon has four hundred Damage Points.

For the Damage Base of a dragon's bite or claws, begin with a damage base of four and then divide its length in feet by 10. Add this. Thus, a 10-foot dragon has a DB of 4 for its bite and claws. A seventy-foot dragon has a DB of 11.

For the Damage Base of the tail, use the same equation but start with a base of 0.

For a dragon's armor rating, divide the dragon's length by 10. This will be the armor rating for P, S, and C type attacks. Then consult the Armor Rating under each dragon type. There will be a modification bonus. Add this to the creature's rating. Thus, a 30-foot Fen Dragon will have an armor rating of 5 for P, S, and C type attacks. (30 divided by 10 = 3. Add 2 for the final rating of 5.)

All dragons are highly resistant to magic, with a Conscious Will roll of 50% and an Inactive of 30%.

Although each dragon is briefly described herein, you should consult the Dragon treatise under the Archives to learn about their appearance, habits, and other traits.

Appearance and Description- Fen Dragons live in deep swamplands and need stagnant water to dwell in. They are predators who will eat anything smaller than they are. Being dark or mottled in appearance, they can be quite difficult to detect in their native environment, and their usual tactic is to lie just under the water and then attack passing prey. They will attempt to wound a creature badly and then drag it under the water where it will swiftly drown.
When cornered or faced with a number of opponents, the Fen Dragon may spray them with its stomach acids, which emerges in a spray of spittle equal to the length of the dragon and half as wide at its terminus.
These dragons are highly aquatic, have never been known to communicate with humans, and seem mostly interested in food. If reduced to half its hit points or less, the dragon will slide back into the water and burrow into the mud below. *

Appearance and Description- Small vicious dragons, Forest Dragons are agile, well camouflaged, and adept at stalking prey. They eat mostly deer, young bear, and other medium-sized creatures. They have been known to attack humans traveling in small parties or alone.
Forest Dragons attempt to attack by surprise, using their sharp claws and teeth, and depend on their agility and rough scales for defense. *

Fae Dragons

Defense- 50%

Number of Attacks - 2
Size - cat-sized or smaller
Speed Rating - 3 on ground, 13 flying
Appearance and Description-
These tiny dragons are quite intelligent and are often able to talk. As such, they can serve as beneficial companions if their fickle nature can be overcome. They are mainly encountered as thieves who will attempt to loot packs for food or sparkly objects, and their small tree or rock dens are often filled with tiny but valuable treasure troves.
Some possess enough fae glamour to make time go awry or to change the appearance of an area, and they will use this ability if danger threatens.
The Mottled Fae Dragon is an ill-tempered variety, which not only lacks the colorful hues of normal fae dragons, but also possesses a venomous bite which registers as Deadly poison. *

Mountain Dragons

Armor Rating - +4
Number of Attacks - 2
Size - 50 - 240 feet
Speed Rating - 18 on land, 25 flying
Appearance and Description-
These most horrible beasts comprise the bulk of historical writings on dragons, for they are known to be fond of interacting with humans -- usually on their own terms. Quite intelligent and usually capable of speech, these great dragons sleep for prolonged periods, but when they are awake they are quite active.
They are probably best known for their treasure and their flame -- for their hoards are vast beyond belief, and their fire can melt stone and steel as if it were butter. This flame emerges from their mouths after a great inhalation (this takes two quint). Then it will emerge, roaring forth in a cone-shape as long as the dragon is and half as wide as the dragon's length at its terminus. All caught within the flame will suffer full damage.
Anyone encountering such a beast is well advised to pursue actions other than fighting, for these creatures are well-known for their love of deals and trades. *

Armor Rating- 1

Size - 10- 40 feet
Speed Rating - 14 on ground. Cannot fly.
Appearance and Description-
These dragons, known only on Moraithe, are livestock-stealers. Since they dislike pain and flee if wounded, they present only a moderate danger, but if surrounded they can generate a tremendous electrical shock which sparks out from their body to strike anyone within 20'. Little is known of these dragons in their natural habitat. *

Armor Rating- + 10
Number of Attacks - 2
Size - 40-80 feet
Speed Rating - 14 on ground, 30 flying
Appearance and Description-
These mystical creatures dwell in high places, and can take the shape of humans to come among us and learn of our doings. They are beneficent creatures that watch with keen interest the affairs of men -- some say they are the eyes of the Great Wyrms. Though not the largest of dragons, even large mountain dragons will shy away from them, for their speed and agility make them impressive fighters in the sky. In addition, their breath weapon, a sheeting spray of pure Caradorian magic, will render any living creature unconscious. To fall from any height will usually kill a mountain dragon.
The Silver Wyrms are beautiful beyond compare, and are a rare sight indeed, but who knows how many walk among us?
Although all dragons are resistant to magic, Silver Wyrms are especially so, enjoying a Conscious Will roll of 90% and an Inactive of 70%. *

Frost Dragon

Defense- 60%
Reaction- 8
Weapons     %     DB     Type     Range

Bite             80                     P             --
Claws         70                     S              --

Frost           70     3d20              dragon’s length
Armor Rating- + 8
Number of Attacks - 2
Size – 10-30 feet
Speed Rating - 14 on ground, 22 flying
Appearance and Description-
These odd, sharp-looking beasts are so cold to the touch that flesh will freeze on contact. They are quick, ferocious predators who live only on Inidor (so you’re not likely to encounter them), and don’t seem to know what humans are. This results in them being prone to attack even groups of explorers, falling among them and spewing forth their frosty breath which not only freezes flesh, but burns the lungs so that breathing is near impossible. The frost emerges in a cone the length of the dragon and half as wide at its terminus.
