Magical Attacks
Adventuring characters run a risk, sometime during their career, of straying into a battle with a magician or other creature capable of utilizing magic. Characters will have defenses against the magic based on the type of magic being used.
Basically, all magical attacks will come in two varieties -- attacks which manifest at some distance from the intended victim and travel toward them, or attacks which manifest directly upon the intended victim.
A lightning bolt, for instance, originates from the spellcaster's hand and streaks toward the victim. This type of magical attack is called a Distant Magical Attack, and to defend against it, the victim is allowed a standard Defense roll.
An enchantment spell, to take another example, manifests directly upon the victim. This type of magical attack is called a Direct Magical Attack, and to defend against it, the victim is allowed their Conscious Will roll if they are aware of the attack, and their Inactive Will roll if they are unaware.
All spells will be of either variety - the ST should judge what type (It should be obvious in most cases).
