Spell Description - This changes any inorganic substance into any other substance for a very short time. Note that if a substance is turned into something which hopelessly alters its shape (such as a sword to water), the sword will regain its composition (steel and wood, for instance), but will do so in whatever shape the water was in. Thus such an object is usually destroyed.

Spell Description - This 'heals' an object by mending a break in it. A broken sword can be held together and melded, or a tear in fabric set back together perfectly. The broken edges must be held together, and thus if something is quite destroyed (such as a broken glass), the spell must be used many times as the caster holds each section back together.

trajectory, doing 1d10 damage plus 1 for each pound the stone weighs. The caster should use their basic % to hit to determine if the rock strikes.

Transmute Substance

Spell Description - This spell changes one thing to another. The extent of change can be as great as the spellcaster desires (a hair could be turned into a galleon), but the spell will not last long if the change is great. Thus an ancient ship could be turned into a new one and the change would be permanent, but the hair, turned into a galleon, would last but a few
quints.
Changes can easily be made from complicated forms to less complicated forms (a ship to water) but going the opposite direction requires knowledge of how a thing is structured. A merchant ship could easily be changed into a trell (a smaller kind of ship), but to change an apple into a ship of any kind would require knowledge of how a ship was built. Thus supplemental knowledge is necessary if houses, ships, etc. are to be created. This especially comes into play regarding objects with many complicated moving parts.
It should be remembered that magical things also cannot be created, such as potions or magical items, nor can things be created which require magic to make them (Rel Morde blades, for instance).
Lastly, it should be remembered that although things may regain their shape after a duration, if they have been formed into something that disperses (such as was the case with the ship turned to water), it will simply turn back into scattered, twisted wood, rope, and iron, regaining its composition but not its form.
Here are some guidelines for how long this spell will endure --
An apple to a ship would last for about a 10 quint.
An apple to a grape would last about 48 hours.
A silver coin to an electrum coin would last indefinitely.
A stick to a sword would last for about a day.
Using these as a basic idea, the ST will decide how long a change lasts.
Shapeshift

Spell Description - This allows the caster to change his or herself, or any other living creature, into a living creature of another type. A caster with this spell must gather 'forms', and keep track of the ones they possess. For instance, if the caster sees an ant, they can take a moment to concentrate upon the essence of the creature, and then the caster will have the ant's form and will be able to turn into its shape using this spell. Any form can be thus taken, but the caster must be at least 20' from the living creature to gain it. In the new form, the caster (or subject) will retain their own mind, but will gain all the senses and natural capabilities of that creature. In addition, the caster has a certain amount of leeway within each form. For instance, with only the 'ant' form, the caster could be a larger or smaller ant. Similarly, with the 'human' form, the caster could be male, female, and of any appearance, strength, etc. that they wished. This spell is not effective for exactly duplicating an existing creature -- rather, it takes the general outline of a creature and allows the caster to work with that general outline. Because assuming a new form can be disorienting (you might have a different size, more potent senses, or vastly different strength), a caster will do well to 'practice' with a form before they attempt to use it under strenuous circumstances.
Philosopher's Stone

Spell Description - This spell converts ordinary water into a golden, beautiful liquid coveted by its possessors. It is a magical substance capable of permanently changing the composition of any object dipped within it. To use it, a small amount of the substance the caster wishes to convert to is dissolved in the philosopher's stone. After the substance (let's say a small chip of ruby) dissolves, the philosopher's stone will shine with an odd shimmer. Any object dipped in the philosopher's stone (let's say a dagger) will be instantly converted. Hence a ruby dagger. The dipper must, of course, take care not to touch their flesh to the liquid, as it will
instantly turn any flesh it contacts with into the dissolved substance. One cup of philosopher's stone, after readied with a dissolved bit of whatever, is enough to convert about 2' sq. volume of substance. After that it will be tainted and is useful only as a pretty, golden colored liquid to gaze upon.
Philosopher's stone does not react to glass, and thus that is the only substance which cannot be dissolved in it. It follows that philosopher's stone must be kept in a glass container with a glass cap.
This substance is also the prime reagent in many high-Degree Trans spells, so it is much in demand by practitioners. Although extremely expensive to purchase, if the seller can be convinced that the person is a
Trans practitioner, they'll usually get it for a quarter of the asking price or less, as long as they are purchasing in small quantities (a couple of cups or less).
