Invocative Magics
Those who choose to learn Invocative magics have chosen a very natural form of magic which seeks to utilize words of power and mind-states to invoke, shape, and direct magical energies.
Invocative spells are almost instant in the casting. When the magician's turn comes up in a given quint, they should simply cast their spell by telling that to the ST and rolling their percentage for success. In some cases, the ST may roll for the defense or conscious will resistance of the victim, and in other cases where an environment is mana-rich or mana-poor, the ST may ask for your roll and add or subtract a certain amount. Thus, even a successful roll does not necessarily indicate a successful spell.
In each of the Disciplines below except for Illusion magics, you will find a similar layout. It will look like this --
The Base % is your percentage at rank 0 to cast the spell. It may be modified by your Magical Perception. See Magical Perception under the Ability Score Bonuses (this is found under Creating a Character). It will also increase by 6% each rank you advance in your Discipline. The percentages start low, which is what makes Invocative so unreliable, especially for beginning practitioners. But if you stay with it, you will eventually become more reliable in your casting, and still be exceedingly fast. That makes for a powerful magician.
At rank 0, if you choose an Invocative Discipline, you will get all the spells of that Discipline.
