Many have tried to describe the nature of the world -- a world that is divided into differing realms of existence. We all know Carador, for it is the world in which we live -- we can touch and see it all around us. But why do sages persist in telling us that other 'worlds' exist, as real as our own but inaccessible to our senses?
One realm we all know is the Dream Realm -- when we sleep, we enter another world which can, at times, seem as real as our own. It is a place that exists, but that we can only enter under certain conditions -- in this case, being asleep.
Other realms exist as well -- we have direct evidence of such -- but the means of accessing them are not so simple.
One way of visualizing the realms is as the layers of an onion - each world is similar to the next, and some lie closer to one than another. But these visualizations can be dangerous, for the world is not truly layered in quite that manner -- rather it is an organic continuum without definitive boundaries, a simultaneity of existence which can be understood, perhaps, only by magical practitioners of highest learning.
Here, then, are the Realms of existence, as currently known and understood.
