What is Carador?

Carador is a living fantasy world brought vividly to life by the writings of Kenton and Rebecca Whitman.  The term "Carador" is of Old Masallan origin, and means "the World". 

What is Illumination?

Illumination is a team of Caradorians who have devoted themselves to enlightening both Caradorians and the people of your world.  They'll introduce you to subjects that have long been hidden from the common gaze.  In the Library, you'll find new treatises every two passages (a passage is seven days) on all manner of enticing subjects, from hunting forest dragons to the inner workings of arcane practice. 

How can I be a part of Carador?

Write to Illumination and ask for more information on your favorite topic!  Request a treatise!  Or tell us of your adventures in Carador; if they're astonishing enough, perhaps you'll find them reported in the Oracle!

How do I write to a member of Illumination or a person from a story?

Simply send your missive to the e-mail address provided here - illumination@caradorian.com.  You're free to inquire into any subject matter. Some people write requesting a treatise, some ask for a review of a restaurant or establishment in one of the cities, while others want some aspect of role-playing made clear. Still others wish to ask a personal question of one of the people they have read about in a story or book. 

How do I role-play in Carador?

Role-playing gives you the chance to experience life in Carador first-hand. You'll find a unique role-playing system that has the distinct advantage of being set in a living world.  Within this site you'll discover how everyday Caradorians live their lives, you'll have access to highly detailed lands and cultures, and uncover new ideas for adventures at every turn. 

You've mentioned books. Where can I buy them?
At this time, they are yet unpublished. Kenton and Rebecca Whitman have two completed full-length novels, as well as a number of novels in the works.  We are currently seeking an agent to represent us, and will keep updates posted.  You can find excerpts from Lillian, and all of our novels, in the Library.

How often is this site updated?

Every passage! (Which is every seven days.)  Illumination provides treatises on subjects common and arcane, reviews of establishments throughout the Known Lands, and tales of adventure, horror, and drama.  You'll also find the Oracle, a sort of Caradorian newspaper.

What if I want to download charts or treatises?

All stories, charts, role-playing information, and all other material (excepting certain graphics, whose copyright belongs to the appropriate artist), including missives sent to you by members of Illumination or people from the stories on this site, are the exclusive copyright of Kenton and Rebecca Whitman.  However, you should feel free to copy any charts, maps, or role-playing material as long as it is for personal use only.  Also, keep in mind that most of the higher resolution maps will take their share of time to download.
